Dutch State Secretary Knops visits R4CR projects

State Secretary Raymond Knops and his delegation visited some R4CR projects and candidates on behalf of the Dutch Government.

One of his visits took place at the Multi-purpose recreational center. It was a project of the Catholic School Board (SKOS) in collaboration with the Middle Region Community Project, where R4CR did the infrastructure of the playground.

The Sr. Marie Laurence students, together with their teachers greeted the delegation to sing their school song and have some fun on the new constructed recreational grounds. Present was the director of the school board, Jessie Aventurin-Hodge, and Project Manager SKOS Tanja Fredriks-Vliegen. A great initiative that binds education with the neighborhood!

Stas Knops and his delegation also stopped by Dow's Musical Foundation (DMF). DMF is a candidate applicant for R4CR's Round 2. Kids from at least four local schools performed for the delegation on their steel pans.

Stas Knops together with Steering Committee Member for the SXM Trust Fund Frans Weekers, as well as Dutch Representative Chris Johnson, and Saskia de Reuver, Director Kingdom Relations also got a chance to try their hands at the cultural instruments and got some "rhythm" as they received and intro class from Sir Isador York (The Mighty Dow). DMF will also start classes for prisoners as a rehabilitation project.
